Faculty Positions at School of Computer Science, Peking University

 

 

The School of Computer Science together with Center on Frontiers of Computing Studies of Peking University seeks candidates for faculty positions starting in September 1, 2025, or on a mutually agreed date thereafter. Appointment will be at all levels of tenure-track (Assistant/Associate Professor) and tenured (Associate/Full/Chair Professor) positions. Faculty duties include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, research, and supervision of student research. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in computer science and electrical/computer engineering or a related field by the start of employment. We will consider candidates with research and teaching interests in any area of computer science.

The Computer Science at Peking University was established in 1978, is known worldwide for our broad view of computer science and acting quickly to explore new interdisciplinary directions. We are conducting cutting-edge research in various research areas, such as software engineering, information security, human-computer interaction and multimedia, natural language processing, database, data mining, cloud computing, mobile computing, microprocessor, digital audio and video coding, multimedia communications, computer reconfigurable logic CECARL, non-volatile memory technology, 3D chip technology, hardware architecture for energy-efficient wireless LAN, and energy-efficient applications. The Center on Frontiers of Computing Studies is a university new initiative co-founded by Turing Award Winner Prof. John Hopcroft and Prof. Wen Gao in 2017. We stand in the frontier of theoretical computer science and applied computing, as well as the interdisciplinary research in quantum computing, robotics and computational economics, etc. We provide a world-class research environment, where innovation and impactful research is the central aim, measured by professional reputation among world scholars. We are also deeply involved in the Turing Class at PKU, cultivating a new generation of computer scientists and engineers. Peking University Computer Science is ranked #7 worldwide from 2020 to 2024 according to CSRankings and #17 according to the 2024 QS World University Rankings.

 

The faculty applicants selected for on-site/remote interviews will be invited to attend the Fifth Youth Forum on the Next Generation Computer Sciences hosted by the School of Computer Science of Peking University, Beijing, China from Dec. 7-8, 2024. This forum will serve as an exciting opportunity for young scholars to exchange academic ideas and the latest innovations in computing. Travel grants are available to support the selected faculty applicants to attend the forum, including round-trip air tickets and hotel accommodations during the forum.

 

Faculty applicants should prepare an application cover letter, curriculum vitae and 3 representative publications by Nov. 4, 2024. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted to provide a research statement (2-4 pages), a teaching statement (1-2 pages), a 25-min research talk video, a 10-min teaching video, and contact information of three or more referees as required supplementary material by Nov. 25, 2024 to submit at different stages of the application on: https://facultyapplication.cspku.cn
